Snotra 1.13.3 to 1.15: see what the agent changed
Nine releases in four days. The ones you will notice: a file tree that shows where the agent has been and what it changed, HTML files as live pages, the reasoning level chosen per chat, PDF and Office documents the agent can read — and a macOS build that is signed and notarised.
Since 1.13.2 came out on Thursday, nine more releases have followed. This is the short version: release by release, only what you will notice in daily use. Two patch releases, 1.14.2 and 1.14.3, changed the build and the tests and nothing you would see, so they are left out.
1.13.3: the review is through
The code review that started with 1.13.2 is finished. The thirteen blocks that were still open — settings, chat history, the update path, skills, the interface, the MCP connection, the file tree — are reviewed, and all their findings are fixed in this release. Like last time, most of it is invisible. Two things are not:
- Skill folders are read-only again. In 1.12.1 skills could write into their own folder. That turned out to be the wrong place: a skill folder is shared by every project the skill is switched on in, and it is replaced on the skill's next update. What a skill learns now goes to
.agents/data/in the open folder, where it is confirmed like any other change to the folder. - The folder shield is blue while commands run isolated, matching the sandbox tile in the settings. Amber and struck through still means the sandbox is off.
On Windows, the self-update of 1.12.2 to 1.13.2 closes the app but leaves the old version in place. If you are on one of those, download the ZIP and install it by hand this once; from 1.13.3 on, the update works again.
1.13.4 and 1.13.5: signed and notarised on macOS
1.13.3 shipped with a broken signature on macOS, and macOS refused it access to the keychain: no models in the chat, and the note “Encrypted storage is not available”. 1.13.4 fixed that the same afternoon.
1.13.5 goes one step further: the macOS app is now signed with a Developer ID and notarised by Apple. Install it, start it, and macOS asks once whether you want to open an app from the internet. After the update it also asks once for access to “Snotra AI Safe Storage” — enter your password and choose Always Allow. Your keys and chat history stay as they are.
1.14.0: see what the agent did
The biggest release of the week, and all of it in the file tree on the left.
- Marks in the tree. While the agent works, the tree shows where it has been: an
Mon every file it changed — filled until you have looked at it, outlined after — and a quiet greyRon what it read. A closed folder carries the mark of what lies inside it. - A diff for every change. Under the tool log, a line lists the files the answer changed, each with its counts, such as
format.js +3 −2. A click opens the changes in the preview column; Content | Changes switches between the file and its diff. In the tree, Show changes in the context menu does the same. - Create, rename, find. New File…, New Folder… and Rename… work right in the tree, with the name typed in place. Cmd/Ctrl+P filters the folder by name, from anywhere in the app, the chat input included.
- The keyboard reaches everything. The tree is operable with arrow keys, Enter, F2 and Shift+F10 for the context menu, and a screen reader announces it as a tree.
- You always see which folder is open. Its name is in the title bar, and in the tree header together with its path. A click there switches to a recent folder.
1.14.0 also removed a detour at the very first start: a first model you add is usable straight away. The step-by-step guide is already up to date with it.
1.14.1: README and HTML in the preview
- A folder opens with its README. When you open or switch folders, the middle column shows its
README.md, rendered — the quickest answer to “what is this folder?”. - HTML files are shown as live pages. An
.htmlfile opens in the preview as the page it is, scripts included, with Preview | Source, Reload and Open in browser. Each page runs isolated in a process of its own: it can load files from the open folder, but it has no network, no access to the app and cannot leave the preview by itself. A note above the page says what was blocked.
1.14.4: deleting in OneDrive folders on macOS
The new signature had a side effect: macOS refused to move files to the trash that lie in a SharePoint library synced by OneDrive. Snotra now moves them into the trash itself when macOS says no. The DMG window also gained an arrow from the app to Applications, so it is clear what to drag where.
1.15.0: reasoning per chat, documents as text
- The reasoning level is chosen in the chat. Open the model menu below the input field: the Reasoning section sets how hard the model thinks, for this chat only. The model pill shows both, for example
gpt-5-mini · high. New chats start withmedium, so if your default model ran onhighuntil now, pick it in the menu when a question needs it. Model entries no longer carry a level; entries that only differed in their level were merged into one. - OpenAI: GPT-5 and newer. The add-model dialog no longer offers older OpenAI models. Entries you already have keep working, marked “Older model, no longer offered”.
- The agent reads documents. PDF, Word, Excel and PowerPoint files are no longer a dead end: the agent can read their text, a few pages, slides or cell ranges at a time, so a 300-page manual doesn't land in the context in one piece.
- Wide tables fit. In the Markdown preview, a table wider than the column is fitted to it instead of cut off.
One thing to know before updating: 1.15.0 stores the model settings in a new format. Going back to 1.14 is not supported — an older version would start with default settings, and your models would have to be set up again.
Getting it
Snotra checks for a newer version at startup and walks you through the update, one confirmed step at a time. Otherwise, download it for macOS, Windows or Linux. Every release has its notes on GitHub, and the Discussions are open for anything that doesn't work the way this article says.
